New private hospital inaugurated in Ho

A new private hospital with  state-of-the art facilities, Royal Hospital, has been  inaugurated in the Volta Regional capital, Ho, as a response to the government’s call to deepen private sector participation in health care delivery to complement the existing state-owned health institutions in the region.

The Royal Hospital’s facilities and services available include out-patients department (OPD), in-patient services, surgical services, obstetrics and Gynaecology, medical services, accident and emergency, pharmacy, laboratory services, radiology services, blood bank, transfusion services and administrative services among others.

Speaking at the inaugural ceremony, the Chief Executive Officer of Royal Hospital, Dr. Daniel Agbley, said the new hospital, which was established a year ago, has an initial 20-bed capacity, to take care of the residents of Ho and its environs.

Dr. Agbley pointed out that referral cases were received from the districts in the Volta region noting that foreigners from the Republic of Togo, Benin and Nigerians also patronise the services of the Hospital because of the quality service being delivered at the hospital.

According to him, the objective of establishing the Royal Hospital was to meet the growing health needs of the people, and assist in reducing maternal and neo-natal mortality in the area.

He further disclosed that for the past one year, the hospital had never recorded maternal death in its operations, due to the high level of professionalism at the hospital.

‘We have our mission to provide state-of the-art medical care, couple with cost effective and best practices, to become the provider of choice for those seeking excellence and luxury in healthcare. Our vision is to position ourselves in the market to become the preferred provider for those seeking higher standards of health care, and reduce inequalities in health outcomes of people living in Ghana and beyond,’ he stressed.

The Deputy Minister of Health, Rojo Mettle Nunoo, said the government was committed to ensuring that Ghanaians are given quality health care, irrespective of geographical location, religion or political affiliation, but noted that the government alone, however, could not meet the growing demand for quality health care.

He said it was in view of this that the government appreciated the positive response by the private sector to partner it in the provision of quality health services to the people, and commended Royal Hospital management for the foresight.

He also urged the management to observe standards set by the Ghana Health Service (GHS) in order to live up to public expectations in health delivery.

The Volta Regional Director of Health Services, Dr. Joseph Nuetey, lauded the effort of the management of Royal Hospital, which he said, would go a long way to complement the efforts of the existing health facilities in the region.

He gave the assurance that his outfit would monitor activities of private health facilities regularly, to ensure that they adhere to set standards in health care provision in the region.

The Volta Regional Minister, Mr. Joseph Amenowode, urged the management of the hospital to maintain the standards set in rendering quality health care within the past one year, to make the new hospital very special among other health facilities.
